|| cold blooded O T ||

tonight it took eighty-seven minutes to drive the twenty-two miles over the bridge to jason's. i parked and walked up his steps and looked in the windows to find the backs of two of my favorite brother men's heads. oh, favorite brother men, i feel like i am finally finally coming out of the groggiest hibernation and am so glad you'll still have me in your midst to sit on the san francisco couch and marvel at cable and the vocalspianosnaredrum coming through the heating grates from the garagestudio in the basement. we got el farolito burritos and bought cheap wine and debated the goodness of snoop dogg and whether or not we would ever make an appearance in a porno (jason: 'well. how many would i be in?' and 'i just want to be the waiter.' owen: 'no. i would not.' me: 'only if i can wear glasses and a lab coat. and my father will never have to know about it.'). we went back to the san francisco house to sit on the san francisco couch and play yahtzee and have more debates (the objectification of the people we find attractive. the funny-ness of certain tv show personalities. taco bell and gatorade. varying degrees of bro-ness.). we stood on the front porch and listened to j's amazingly lovely new recorded songs. that's the part where i felt the overlapping: all of the times i have been with these boys. all the music discussions and critiques and fits, with me standing somewhere to the side offering the encouraging out-of-touch mum comments, the pats on shoulders and good-natured slaps on asses. oh i miss them. i love the living room get togethers. drinking wine out of coffee mugs and fighting over the remote control and calling jason on every time he cheats on the large straights and threes of a kind. see? things don't have to change so much all the time. sometimes you hit these nice pockets of waybackwhen, all warm and soft and familiar like corduroy or down or the top of a head of a boy you like a whole lot.
