so i arrived in montana a couple of days ago. there was a blizzard as soon as i entered the state!! the weather has been craaazy but its kind of a nice change. i have so many stories already i dont know where to start. on my first day of work i waited in front of a saloon for my soon to be coworkers. a ford truck with four cowboys holding 22 rifles pulled up and they turned out to be the other biologists. there were handlebar moustaches involved. we went and got my trailor and took it out to the work site (40 miles from town) and set it up. the site is magnificent!! my trailer is right on the sun river and theres trees and buttes and stuff. and its right on the edge of the bob marshall wilderness area which is pretty kickass but there are bears and stuff and may not be a good thing for kelly to go exploring alone. so anyways the guy im gonna work with is named charlie and he kinda reminds me of a pipeliner. hes never left montana and hes 23 and is actually a pretty nice guy. so we were getting trained (by the way im taking trout surveys) by these other biologists and i kept telling jokes but no one would laugh and i think they think im a lesbian. and then i was unlocking the winches for the nets and i dropped the keys in the river and now i think they think im a stupid lesbian. typical kelly first day. so charlie and i worked for a couple hours. we check the nets for fish every hour and in the in between time i would read and charlie would go shoot gophers. im not joking. there is a ranch next to my trailer owned by a 70 yr old woman named tina. she runs it alone and is the most awesome lady ive ever met. she came over with a rifle slung around her back yesterday because she thought she heard her dog "wrastlin' a coon". im gonna help her dig a ditch and milk her cows next week. yay!! uh oh the librarian is giving me the you've been on the internet way longer than 15 minutes look and he is no ordinary librarian. i love you all and will email my po box as soon as i get it. hugs and kisses!! guestbook || notes || archives || profile || photos || d-land |
