|| holiday magic ||

sometimes everything suddenly gets so damn holiday-magical and you wish david gordon green were following you around (for owen's sake at least.) to capture your life in that properly magical way. brian and i walked down to fourth street. brian and i kicked at trash and hollered in the abandoned streets and walked that long-legged lanky way past shoppers and yuppies and brass bands to the coffee shop. brian bought us matching egg nog lattes and we wandered around a fancy food store stuffing our faces with bread soaked in olive oil. brian and i walked home at dusk, stopping at the indian food warehouse to find his hot mix and tea and marvel at the beautiful vermicelli package featuring a drawing of an elephant and origami-like purple paper. we complimented trees along addison and both imagined our next house which will be filled with people we know and termed "the hive." we stopped proper at street lights and greeted the seekh who lives across from the elementary school.
we got home and i thought to call michael and realized my butt had called adam m approximately seventeen times during the excursion (like i explained to adam, my phone was in my bag and my bag was hitting against my butt and i have a spring in my step and quite a springy butt.). after profuse apologizing and martin-hand laughter orchestra (he has a lovely hysterical laugh) our plans got locked together in the most serendipitous way: holiday bar hop with a big group of friends, some hailing back to the oc. oh thank you, dear bum, for thinking to call adam. oh thank you, dear brian, for being my favorite and being on hand when i need a parambulatory adventure. oh thank you, world, for letting me see that you are quite marvelous sometimes.
love, jenny.
