|| 19-hour party people, perhaps. ||

too much city excitement: pulling over for screaming fire engines downtown and reacquainting self with train schedules and stoically taking elevators up and down at break-neck speed. meeting up with the visitors and trying very hard to keep everyone's plans straight. ice cream parlor booths and horror movie trading cards from the '80s; birthday procession to bars in the mission by way of bus and pub crawl. chintzy light fixtures. intermittent rain on bar patios. diner food to combat the disagreeable effects of too much alcohol. sleeping on the 20th floor with an uninterrupted view of the bay, the bridge, the transamerica building, tad's steakhouse, and my sister drooling on her hoodie. the occupancy of the buddha bar in chinatown waxing and waning in no discernible pattern; making friends in the line for the loo. sunday brunch as contest for worst bedhead/hangover symptoms. round trip to the airport, a stop at the drug store for vitamin water and chocolate, and i threw in the towel at three p.m. yesterday. cannot keep up that pace.
