dear brian,

last night i got home to find michael bland holed up on the couch (he's sick and was hopped up on a powerful cocktail of contraband pseudoephedrine and nyquil) watching two of approximately eight videos he found at the library. he toggled from a jacques cousteau documentary (DVD) to a 1960s musical that is so brian-murphy-esque i sank to the floor and sobbed. SOBBED!

i give you:

HOT SUMMER directed by joachim hasler (stop me if you've seen it.)

"Imagine Frankie and Annette taking a vacation with nine guys and 10 girls. Now imagine them as Communist youth, spreading the joys of collectivism and the freedom to have sex with whomever they please! Unbelievably catchy songs, surreal choreography (including dancing haystacks), and a kitschy script make this a must-see for anyone who loves tractor musicals." (says some dude on IMDB)

"In this East German teen musical, a group of girls are planning to take their summer vacation together on the Baltic coast. When a loud and obnoxious group of boys intrudes on their holiday, the girls are horrified to learn that the boys have the same vacations plans as them. The two groups quarrel with each other and compete over a number of things, but gradually an attraction starts to form."

i only saw the first five minutes of it (i want to give it my full attention and michael was threatening to switch back to jacques), but the clothes! the hair! one of the girls threatens to take her bra off! and there was DANCING.

i think you would appreciate it greatly.

much love, brother,
j.a.h.
