|| lunchbreak is a heartbreak. ||

lunch time for the past couple of months has been sandwiches and gin rummy in the grass and cigarettes and sunburn on the back of my neck that i always forget about, sun protection-wise. it has been meeting owen at long life vegi-house and ordering without the menu, pouring tea for everyone, reading cookie fortunes aloud, fishing for quarters to get jellybeans out of the candy machine (giving owen all the black ones). it has been visiting jeff l at mod lang, looking longingly at the comic book store, taking the longest route possible back to work. running into jeff k. finding grassy hills to lie on for ten minutes. making daisy chains. walking in the big crosswalk and splitting up: you go down telegraph and i'll go down bancroft and i'll meet you right here at four o'clock for break.
